One of the local papers mentioned Zorn and Laswell by name in passing along this information, but didn't mention Yoshida (or any other drummer, for that matter)... I think the line-up in Pain Killer is no longer fixed, beyond Zorn and Laswell. On December 8, 2002, an ensemble which included John Zorn (sax) Bill Laswell (bass) Hideo Yamagi (drums) Keiji Haino (guitar, voice) Michiyo Yagi (koto) Akira Sakata (voice) performed at Pit Inn in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The line-up kept switching, sometimes a trio, sometimes a quartet, quintet, or sextet. All combinations included Zorn and Laswell. Most of the songs performed (especially featuring the Zorn/Laswell/Yamagi trio) were very definitely in the Pain Killer vein. (But I don't think this show was officially billed as Pain Killer.) There were some songs with Haino and the koto player that were not at all in the style of "vintage era" Pain Killer.
