I think that "Fantastic Damage" is easily the worst thing to come out of the Def Jux crew and EL-P, ever. I must be the only who doesn't like it!
The production is noisy, and horrible....it's like a pale reflection of what EL-P did for Cannibal Ox's "the cold vein." I also can't stand EL-P's constant "angry" schtick. Haven't got a chance to hear the El-P album yet (it's still somewhere on a pile of CD's I still have to listen too) and neither have I heard some Canibal Ox's yet But what I have heard from people so far that this album was very much inspired by the recent project he had done with Alec Empire (also known from the german Digital Hardcore Recordings label and Atari Teenage Riot). I don't know how many people are familiar with Alec's music but it kinda make sense with what your saying .It pretty much got compared with Alec's soloalbum "Generation Star Wars" Only Alec's material is even more noisier then El-P's.
