HI,
Hello.
I was wondering if Zorn's interest in Judaism does not coincide with him not living anymore in Japan. Looks like the timing matches (1992).
Could be an speculation as someone else said. In the BBC program hosted by Steve Beresford, Zorn states that the actual fact that triggered his interest in Judaism was his father's death. Maybe it coincided with his comeback from Japan. In a written interview I have, Zorn does not mention rejection as the reason for him to pack and go back to NYC. Just that he felt like spending all his time in the US due to the amounts of work he had there (and still seems to have). His father's death had a very strong impact on Zorn, according to his own words, and his sudden interest led to the creation of "Kristallnacht" and later on, the Masada series.
