Blood On The Tracks is immediately essential, maybe the single greatest album of the 70s. I'm a big booster of Planet Waves (or about 70% of it), just cuz it's all about some guys playing together. Also, Infidels is really great. For starters. I'm a huge Bob fan (I think he's the only guy in American music -- and therefore 20th century music -- who stands as tall as Louis Armstrong), so it's a mistake to start me to talkin'. sh http://www.skipheller.com on 4/17/04 10:28 AM, Dave at ILikePie@silent-watcher.net wrote: ok, so years ago when my father died, i more or less inherited a batch of his old dylan vinyl and some cds. i had never remotely been a fan of dylan's, but i kept them for sentimental reasons. a few years later i got a promo of time out of mind at work and thought it was not that bad, and hung on to it. over the last year or two he's been creeping up on me (mostly through an odd effort to listen straight through to every single cd/record i have - just for this reason i guess; discovering a new like for things i have). now, i seem to be addicted! i want to know based on what i have and like, if you all could shoot some recommendations to buy and/or be wary of. here's what i have, and i have to say i like them all enough to have bought them if i heard them (good tracks far outweigh so-so). the greatest hits comps (1 and 3) have been great for me as a sampler, and i REALLY dig time out of mind. not as crazy about love and theft....here's what i have : Bob Dylan The Freewheelin¹ Bob Dylan The Times They Are A-Changin¹ Another Side of Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited Blonde On Blonde Greatest Hits 1 and 3 Time Out of Mind Love and Theft thanks. sorry for the no-zorn content, but this list tends to have the most knowledgeable people about all types of music (as well as some of the most passionate). dave http://www.mickharris.net - official mick harris pages http://www.eraldobernocchi.net - official eraldo bernocchi pages http://www.silent-watcher.net - bill laswell and alice coltrane pages _______________________________________________ zorn-list mailing list zorn-list@mailman.xmission.com To UNSUBSCRIBE or Change Your Subscription Options, go to the webpage below http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/zorn-list
