I recently bought a powerbook and have now discovered this particular problem with encoding when i watch DVDs. I live in region 3 and can watch most region 3 DVDs on region 1 encoding. But the problem comes with distribution of international releases. I can get a fair bit of good stuff in Region 3, but a lot of it I will need to buy and have bought on the net, including the latest Im Kwon Taek release, Chunhyang, which I got from Amazon (not available in Region 3 yet). Unfortunately, I only have 5 switches on the DVD player, after which, I won't be able to watch some of the DVDs I actually own. What do you folks do about this? Why the hell was this particular technology rigged in this way? Sorry to bug the list about this, but I'm curious if there might be a solution other than having to buy two DVD players. BTW, congrats to Im Kwon Taek on his winning best director at Cannes. Highly deserved. _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
