I've been listening to him again since he's dropped
the keyboard player from his group and recordings.

I dont think many people here listen to him. Its understandable that most of the people on this list just aint into this type of music - although he is pretty unique to my ears. He sounds more like a sax player (Coltrane, alot of times) than any other guitar player. He's a hell of an improvisor, and can solo over changes like nobodys business. Personally I prefer anything he's done after and including "Secrets" (1990). I picked up his new live recording "All Night Wrong" at the Shibuya Tower, it's a Japan only release. Features Chad Wackerman and Jimmy Johnson, and the sound quality of the recording is unbelieveable. And the playing.......if this doesnt do it for you, then he's definitely not your cup of tea.
