Hereby I take the freedom to quote a little from the text on Tabbal's surgery:
On Dec. 14, Tabbal underwent a 12-hour surgery - during which he was sedated but awake, so that his reactions could be monitored - which had doctors marveling at his resilience. According to Susanna Ronner, Tabbal's life partner, "They were very aware of his brilliance as a musician, so everything was done slowly and meticulously so as to not create damage."
I just love these formalisms doctors tell to their patient's partners;-) Us regular folks would have been butchered, as long as we're not brilliant?! In Holland some hospitals use these stickers saying 'SINGER'. Nurses stick them right on the head of a singer with tonsilitis, throat or teeth surgery. It definitely makes the singer feel better, the doctors say, so why not? Avoiding panic is part of the craftmanship of the caring profession. Remco ps in Robert Pleshar's attached article is an adress in order to help out the Tabbal family financially. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Pleshar" <rpleshar@midway.uchicago.edu> To: "zornlist" <zorn-list@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 31, 2002 4:22 PM Subject: Fwd: Tani Tabbal - Miracle Man (fwd)
