So how is that Gainsbourg? my np is David Manson's "Beast" -- highly recommended to anyone looking to add to their (no doubt already vast) solo trombone CD holdings. Other than one track with Davey Williams, it's all trombone and electronic sampling, featuring some really witty, unexpected juxtapositions (like diesel truck sounds) and very interesting compositions by Manson and others. His last release was "Fluid Motion," a gorgeous collaboration with Sam Rivers' trio (all Manson compositions, but definitely showing a Rivers influence). Manson plays with Rivers' big band sometimes and is also in several Tampa Bay-area groups, including the Zappa repetoire group Bogus Pomp. Parry
