masada songbook

I've been wondering about the number of compositions in the Masada songbook. In the press text to "Masada Guitars" it says: "In 1993 John Zorn began composing and performing his 208 tunes that now comprise what is known as the Masada songbook." But counting the published tunes (drawing from the DIW recordings as well as the several live and chamber ensemble cds) they only add up to about 115. What about the rest?? Is Zorn still having them up his sleeves for future releases? Also I'm curious if there are any plans to publish them as sheet music, sort of "The Masada Fake Book"? Any info on that would be much appreciated.

Hi there ! Tonight in Avignon, France (La Manutention: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/ajmi/site/indexflash.html ), Jeff Parker (AACM member and guitarist ith Tortoise, Chicago Underground and others) will be playing with his VEGA trio (with bassist Bernard Santacruz and percussionist Michael Zerang). I only know Parker through the Chicago Undergound album, and don't really know what to expect with this trio. Anyone around here heard this trio live or on their self-tittled album ? What's it like ? Impro-oriented ? kind of straight ? Or maybe someone knows where to find a review of their album somewhere on the net ? Thanks for your comments and help. Pascal. Tower Records etc.

If any of you are ever in San Francisco, Berkeley or Hollywood, you owe it to yourself to visit Amoeba Music. I've given up on Tower, Virgin, FYE, etc., etc. As you know, who wants to pay 17.99 or more for some basic Blue Note album, or something off the Fantasy/Riverside label. The great thing about Amoeba (at least the SF location) they have a HUGE selection of NEW/USED Jazz and Experimental stuff. What's more, their collection of NEW/USED vinyl goes unmatched. I've bought a ton of Zorn related stuff out of the Used bin, and have never experienced any problems with the stuff. C'mon, how can you pass up Grand Guinol at 8.95! Or, a new copy of Masada Guitars for 11.95! What's more, their selection is deep and vast. Just wanted to pass it along to other music lovers. You can't beat Amoeba! Actually what I meant is which store can afford to hire the a Staff as knowledgeable as the crew at DMG. Downtown Music Gallery's prices are extremely reasonable besides the fact that they carry exclusive product you won't find anywhere else (especially in your beloved chainstores), that in many cases comes from and benefits the artists directly. Stores like DMG are essential for keeping a music community alive and they should be supported by all music lovers like the people I suspect are part of this list.
