hello all, was checking out this reviewhttp://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/a/area/revolution.shtml I really tend to want to pick up anything that this guy reviews, a nice departure from the mainstream of pitchfork writers. Can anyone second Area as essential to pick up? I am not a prog freak, but I do appreciate drawing on lots of music, I never listen to lyrics either. composer biographies

OK, recommendation time again. I'm looking biographies of classical composers but want ones with a "life and times" approach rather than detailed chronology and musical analysis. Ones that might, say, discuss the structure of organs in Bach's time or how the cantata developed more than the names of his children. Something like Barzun's Berlioz and His Century or the section on Satie in Shattuck's The Banquet Years. Any era, any remotely recognizable composer but at the moment I'm especially interested in Bach, Chopin, Satie (again), Sibelius and Stravinsky. Suggestions? Thanks, Lang

Hello, I was wondering if Eugene Chadbourne's Jimi Hendrix project with Pat Thomas and Jimmy Carl Black is any good. Pretty interesting lineup, but there's so many Chadbourne projects out there, so... Anybody heard the CD or seen them live?
