Hi, Let me get back to some issues: Sampling: I wouldn't call myself a pro on this, but in my job and private interests I've learned a great deal about it. Mostly because of lack of finance I had to depend on myself, a low budget, and the gear I already had. That's how I nearly use SoundForge for any sample job I have. How to clean a bass-sound that has remains of an Hihat or other parts you don't want in SoundForge: Load the sample and listen carefully to it. Inhale it into your brain :-) Then make a copy of it, and use the graphic equalizer to isolate what you don't want. This means cleaning it so you're left with the sound you want to eliminate. When you're done with that, select the waveform and mix it with your orignal Bass sample. Then check the invert radio-button and slide with the db slider until the original bass-sample sounds as clean as it can be. Repeat this step until you get the best possible result. Take in mind that the results are at best when you take the time and do it is -gently- as possible. So doing the steps in three or four sessions is better then attempting to do it in just one. It takes time but the results are more pleasing to the ear. next you should filter it with normalizers or a compressor/enhancer to soup it up and style/shape it for your song. And... Don't get lost in the idea that it is possible to eliminate everything you don't want from of a sample. In a composition with several sounds playing at once, most of the softened remains aren't that audible anymore. - I've gather some of my own yello samples. The zip file contains rough direct from yello cd's samples and some reworked ones. I don't have the time to sort them out. And i'm sorry to say that I don'thave the time to get other reworked samples from my samplers hardrives. Maybe some time. Next to the yello-samples I'll upload a set of my own sounds. - Sound tips: If you need a bassdrum no one else has, try slamming the fridge door, just like Boris did. If you need a fingersnap, record your own, layer it. Etc.. This makes a song unique I guess. Hardware: I use a second hand Yamaha 3000 sampler. And although the machine has some qwerks, it still does it's job well. Another thing I dow ith samples, is loading them into the Yamaha and tun it with the internal filters and envelopes. I middle it to a Center C, and record it back into the Sound Forge software. Result: Ripped Sample - Original Sound. - Layering: Layer your samples. Use two or three bass-samples with different envelopes to create your own sound. Boris does...don't you Boris? Yes you do. And with two or three samples shifted in the stereo spectrum while played at once gives a very full and dominant sound in your track. Yello Power!!
