As far as I know there's only Rene and me who play guitar here on the list, but I'll publish it here in case there are other ones who might find this useful. It is not complete, but I've included the main riffs. Solos will hopefully come later. This is the main riff that's played when the song begins, and during the "verses". Of course, I don't play guitar (though I do know about keys - but would never attempt to explain it, quite an undertaking) only That Song is the greatest screamin guitar solo! Yeah! Wonder what Eddie Van Halen's Eruption would look like? Probably a big mess! [ Wonder what Eddie Van Halen's Eruption would look like? [ Probably a big mess! In standard music notation, Eruption would look a lot like a classical piece full of arpeggios. Quite atypical for guitar, at least not at that speed. I wonder what the tempo would be, or what the note values are (quarter, eighth, sixteenth, thirtysecond, ...)? Brian
It's been a long time since I've been formally involved in music - what's that part of a piece called where the rest of the symphony stops, and a soloist just plays away at their own interpretation of the piece? Not a concerto... Dang it's been twenty years since I've seen this term. Anyways, I think "Eruption" would qualify, it could be any notes, eights, sixteenths, (personally I think anyone who writes a bunch of 32nd are just showing off and they are incredibly difficult on the performer to decipher) but he picks the tempo. As a side, I've actually seen him perform this in person (again, over twenty years ago but quite memorable along w/ David Lee Roth's buttless pants!), and he's not actually plucking all those notes. He just kind of touches the guitar all over and I guess because It's Electric there is a lot more freedom with the production of notes. I wonder if he's sober these days. ;) -----Original Message----- From: yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Brian Willoughby Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2004 2:45 AM To: The moon: beautiful.
