I will be posting new content that will only play with QuickTime 7. The new codec H.264 is amazing. Incredibly clear movies with very small file size.
H.264 sounds like the codec is a standard and could be available in other systems. Even in Linux. The big worry about using closed, proprietary formats is that the formats may not be supported in future. So, keep the originals and finals in some open format as well. I don't have quicktime because quicktime was available only via an online installer (one which takes connection to Apple and downloads the rest of the installation from their site). Could you find an exe/zip which contains the complete quicktime7? And, no internet should be needed in the computer to which I install the exe/zip package. Certainly everyone could play mpeg (standard DVD files). Open vorbis audio/video system would be something worth of trying. Could you test the vorbis video format?
