I am reading page 64 “Nummern” now in “works 1968-2011”, I have to say I’m a bit shocked, not only that he was allowed to do this, but also that he could come up with such an idea in the first place. I guess some of our German members can translate or summarize better than I can, but I understood enough. /JW

OK here’s the text, rather than wait for some German-speaking fan to translate: In November 1969, as another part of the '6 Projekte' at Kunstmuseum (Museum of Arts) in Lucerne, Dieter for some reason decided to have rats killed and call it “art” by doing it elaborately: each museum visitor were assigned a number that corresponded to a purple-painted caged rat with the same number. As the rat was let out of the cage it was given poison that would kill it within 15 minutes in a vivacious death struggle (apparently this was legal at the time!).
