<?fontfamily><?param Courier><?x-tad-bigger> A lot of the mixes are very similar to the originals; the choice of instrument, Dieter's voice, the arrangement, etc. Personally, I'd rate these ones lower than the ones which take the basic idea and run off in a different direction with it. It's easy to make a close-copy of the original and not so easy to come up with something interesting and fresh based on the original IMHO. I am happy if a remix track contains at least one recognizable element from the original song, but the rest is up to the composer. It's surprising how many of them kept Dieter's vocals as the recognizable element, almost not changing it at all. Some of the mixes sound like they are being done by newbies while others have a real professional quality to them. But hats off to everyone who went for it. - RF -----Original Message----- From: yello-bounces+rfiler=sierrawireless.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:yello-bounces+rfiler=sierrawireless.com@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of Tasha Sent: Saturday, July 03, 2004 4:19 PM To: 'The moon: beautiful. I am starting to put my Yello Remix CD together based mostly on everybody's recommendations. I am immediately finding that when I go back a relisten to songs that my rating changes, both up and down. This is some hard work. But oh so rewarding. My personal rating notations consist of check marks, "ok", "eh", and X, and variations on those (two checks mean real good, two X means real bad). I wish we could see the judges' rating sheets for the contest. Do we even know who the judges are? -----Original Message----- From: yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Jon Kamm Sent: Saturday, July 03, 2004 6:00 PM To: yello@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Yello] snapshot TASHA WROTE: I have discovered something I never heard before from this contest - German rap (I think it's German).
