Classic Yello tracks such as Rubberbandman and Of Course I'm Lying feature Billy's vocals in the background, but I think the tracks Moon On Ice and Capri Calling which places the late Scottish singer's voice in center stage truly stand out. At the time of Mackenzie's passing in 1997, he and Boris had almost an hour's worth of nearly-completed tracks which have never been released. Boris stated in an interview that he had planned to finish the tracks and release them as a full album, but this was shortly after Billy's suicide and Blank just couldn't bring himself to do it. Does anyone know if Boris has made any progress on this project? I can't blame him for being reluctant to work on a project in which one of the participants is no longer alive, but I was just curious. In the years since Billy Mackenzie's death, his music has gained almost a cult status amongst the Euro-rock listeners. Every time something of his is (re-) released, it sells out fast and for a lot more than it had when the singer was alive. Go figure. In any case, if the Billy/Boris collaboration is ever made available to the public, I'll be one of the first buyers.
alas, the sign of a truly great artist Laurens van Graft The Grip Guy All your gymnastics grip needs right here! Abolish Daylight Savings Time; it's past its usefulness, and I'm tired. On Jun 15, 2005, at 12:44 PM, t.savoy@insightbb.com wrote:

This has been discussed recently on the Associates/Mackenzie mailing list. When the recent 'posthumous' albums were released, Jude Rawlins (the compiler of the albums) contacted Boris about 'Norma Jean', but there was no mention at the time about other tracks. When the subject was raised on the list (following the release of 'Norma Jean' on the album 'Auchtermatic', Jude was surprised as she hadn't heard about other tracks, so she was going to ask him as some point. There hasn't been any news reported back yet, so I suppose we will just have to stay tuned. As for extra tracks, there will be some extra tracks on Outernational, but they haven't been announced yet. I imagine that the B-sides from the era would be included; most of these are non-Yello, but the remix of 'Sacrifice And Be Sacrificed' would be a hopeful contender for a spot. Jude will let the Associates list know when the extra tracks have been decided, and when the release date is set, so I'll pass on the message to you all when it comes.
