Guys and girls, If we end up in the position of never seeing another Yello CD, I wonder if there'd be some value in branching out to other artists. Unfortunately, I personally have never heard anything else like Yello. That said, my music interests go beyond Yello, and I wonder if its possible that many on this list might also enjoy other music as well, and if we'd benefit from sharing what that music is. There are a number of ways we could do this, we could post groups/bands we like that we feel are in some way related to Yello. Another way might be to share Pandora stations that have played music we like. (Pandora.com runs a music service (free) - you enter any group, album or artist, and pandora will attempt to play music similar to that - I have found a good 10-15 CD's I really enjoy, that I had never heard of before Pandora) What do you think?
I agree with you entirely. What's done is done. I don't think we'll see another Yello CD. I've moved on. I always had other musical interests anyway. However, it's still nice to play a Yello CD from time to time and just remember how unique they were. Since you brought it up, I got impatient several years ago just sitting around and waitng for the next Yello release, so I started collecting Billy Mackenzie's albums. Unfortunately, this was only a few months after his untimely demise, but I really enjoyed his work all the same (I still do). Thanks to his collaborative work with Paul Haig on "Memory Palace", I'm now also a big fan of Haig's. Haig was out of the music scene for a while (at least I think he was. As far as I know, he didn't do much from 1998 to 2006 or so), but he's come out with two really fantastic CDs in the last couple years, "Electronik Audience" and "Go Out Tonight" and he's got a third CD slated for release sometime around the end of this year. If anyone wants to branch out and discover some truly wonderful music, I suggest picking up Haig's latest CDs and Billy Mackenzie's "Outernational" to start with. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jack Fruh To: yello@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Sat, 18 Jul 2009 18:11:44 +0000 (UTC) Subject: [Yello] Yello Tree branch? yes - Pandora is good, as are other ones that come with whatever internet service you subscribe to. This email list is just been so good because there aren't nine hundred thousand people on it, we have a better sense of "community" i guess. For example, I also like The Prodigy and they have gobs and gobs of fans that myspace and facebook type sites are the only way they can communicate, which is, to sell themselves. I was thinking the other day, are we even nerdier than Trekkies?! HA! I freely admit I'm a Trekkie too... Keep the Yello love comin' folks. ________________________________ From: Jack Fruh <jack@fruh.net> To: yello@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Saturday, July 18, 2009 1:11:44 PM Subject: [Yello] Yello Tree branch?
