And a question about podcasting.(Laurens?)I got an IpodNano now.(finally! Jiihaaa!!) But >what so big about Podcasting? I'm completely new in the world of Podcasting.....
Well the big news is you don't really need an iPod! All you need is something that will play the media file, it could be a movie, or audio. It maybe your desktop computer, or your laptop, or your MP3 player, or your car MP3 player or DVD which plays CDs with MP3s. You can even use your iPod! The main thing you need is a receiver, something to read the XML feed and grab the updated audio files. I am using Juice http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/ and you need to go to a few sites or search for Podcasts, then add the XML feed into the "subscribe" tab of Juice, then that's it. When you have received a file or files, burn, copy, move, etc. to your chosen listening station. Simple as! Juice does have some features built in to do that automatically. I believe that the iTunes has something similar, but I've no experience and cannot comment. Sorry I know its offtopic, but as more and more media is delivered this way, it's quite possible that some Yello related media will be available this way (Jon already has some limited) so it is offtopic with a mission! -- Regards, Nic. iTunes has a built-in podcast downloader, but I have found it slow at times. I had trouble downloading They Might Be Giants' second podcast with iTunes. (I am on dial-up on a 4 hour session limit.) I only got halfway through downloading the file when my 4 hours was up, and then iTunes deleted the half-downloaded file. Downloading the file directly from the web site was much quicker. Are all podcast downloaders slow, or is it just iTunes? Mark P. ----------------------<http://users.tpg.com.au/mrpulley/

I am subscribed to around 40 feeds (some are monthly or less often, some daily). Some download at my maximum DSL rate (currently 2 meg), others peak at 28kb, which happens to be the typical maximum DSL uplink rate. I don't know how iTunes handles this, but Juice is based on bittorrent type technology, and it has the ability to resume partially downloaded sets, and manage multiple streams. However I have found some instances that it is quicker to save the file, but I know this is in some cases due to poor XML coding, and the podcast receiver doesn't sucessfully manage the feed. Having said that, in the main Juice is as fast as doing a SAVE AS, but I can also select how many concurrent streams so can be effectively quicker if my downstream rate is faster that the aggregated feed rates. In your case, resuming partial downloads (it keeps a PARTIAL file type) may help you for dial up. -- Regards, Nic. We are the architects, not the victims of our own destiny
DADDY, What's a dialup? (signed, Kelly Pickler!) Ooooh, is that system still available? The internet must be torture on the phoneline. I even have found with my extreme hi-speed DSP, that some web pages take a while to download!! How dissapionting it must be to wait a couple of hours to load a page, then find out it was not the url you were looking for!! I feel for you!! I have fou nd that some DSL/DSP are running an anti-Tourrent firewall, in which, if the link you are downloading from switches to another URL, it simply disconnects. SUCKS don't it!! My DSP tried that, but due to a large outcry from the patrons of that service, they stopped that practice. YEAH! Laurens On Saturday, April 01, 2006, at 06:03AM, Shaun Turner <yg@tvsched.com> wrote:
