Anyone could convert it to mpeg? Windows XP here at university does not show it at all. Mpeg is only format which seems to work in Windows and in Linux. Because mpeg is public format it would make sense to archive these clips in mpeg format in any case. I have those recycled watch advertisements in mov format but have never been able to play them. I use the GNU and I am able to play: DiVX, XVID, MPEG, MOV [even the Sorenson Codec stuff], OGM, WMV.... the list goes on. And no, I Am Not A Wizard.
Because mpeg is public format it would make sense to archive these clips in mpeg format in any case. I have those recycled watch advertisements in mov format but have never been able to play them. MPEG is also very large and problematic. I would rather suggest that if any transfer is to be made, that it be either XVID or DIVX. But it's still a bad idea to decompress a video and then recompress it, since overmuch would be lost in the way of information. There are no ways to "translate" one compression to another format, so a decomp/recomp would be necessary, and, again, this means throwing away more info. And we likes us some of that /un-compromised/ yello qualidad!
