Touch Yello 8-Track Album-Preview (Promo)
Quite simply, stealing is taking something from someone without their permission, and that is exactly what people are doing by posting full high quality tracks that are not even released yet and allowing people to download them FOR FREE! These people were not given permission to post these tracks on the internet. Just because they say you can have them by simply clicking a button does not make it okay to do so. That would be like someone taking money from a bank without permission then coming up to you and saying "Here you can have it". THE MONEY WAS STOLEN! If you accept it you are in possession of stolen property.
Not to say anything negative about Yello, or to encourage people to download instead of buying, but downloading music is NOT stealing and it is NOT like taking money from a bank. If you take a CD from a store, or money from a bank, you deprive the store of that CD, which they paid for and cannot be sold to someone else. Likewise for a bank, you take money and they no longer have that money. Downloading does not deprive someone of property. Any loss is theoretical. Now, someone may have violated confidence or trust by uploading the EP, but it's not theft. Yeah, I understand you're upset, but this whole theft/stealing thing just isn't correct. I wish I could download the whole album - we've been waiting for well over a year for this - it was announced as being release LAST fall, if I recall. We've been waiting 5 years for a new album! But I plan to BUY the CD the day it's available. Downloading is absolutely no guarantee that people will or will not buy an album. Best of luck to Yello on their new release.
