Subject: Re: [Yello] Q: Best Yello for house fans Hi Brian, I've roamed around in the house scene as aid for sounds on productions, small radio stations and as a photographer on House Parties.
[ What's House Music? According to an article I read in the late 1980's, House Music started in Detroit or Chicago at house parties, where the DJ would spin whatever they had (certainly not techno, yet), typically with a Motown diva, and eventually the DJ started bringing along a drum machine to mix in and provide a steady beat of programmed drum sounds. This house music grew from improvised music mixes at the house parties into produced and pressed tracks. [ Is it like House Wine in a restaurant? You could say that, in a way, but more like with home cooking than at an establishment. Would it still be called house wine if you're at a friend's home for dinner? [ Sort of a signature tunes for the club? Nope. It did not start in clubs - even though that's where it is now. The "House" in House Music refers to the house parties. Brian
