Claro Qu Si-What Color is Yellow?
Hello All This 'Claro Qu Si' is buggin me. I managed to buy a copy of the US Yellow Cover and its Orange as I have since seen your cover also Jonathon. Anyway you see that the cover is different from the Yellow colored cover jpeg on your site also. So where is this 'YELLOW' colored cover from?????? I have just bought another copy-waiting for it to arrive and see what color. Its also a first release hard cardboard. I purposely didn't ask what color it is as it'll be a surprise. I have got some other great items-Capri Calling-Japan Only 3" Im also waiting on a copy of 'Night Flanger'-not really sure what version? There some other beauties also that I'll share some pics etc soon. Have some other nice items on order and in the post. Can't wait for a copy of 'the eye'. I've done a little mix from the cuts that were available. Its sound shit. I have some more work to do as usual. :-( It may be a little while, but it will happen. See there's a nice promo available at eil. Check it out, those who have some money will want it. Go now!!! What about the Snowball promo-I guess no one is that lucky to have that kind of money to spend on a cd? Lets hope its re-listed at $1. :-) Keep up the great work Jonathon-you are an inspiration. Paulo

Greg, For most small, local bands, an official CD release is maybe 1000 copies, and the promo is surely CD/R. However, for a group like Yello, who will go platinum for sure (right?), and the backing of a good record label, the promo CD will be pressed just like an official release, only in smaller quantities. I can easily see Yello management spending US$2500 on 1000 promo CDs. That's pocket change! I have promo CDs from bands on the WARP Records label, and not only is the promo CD pressed (not burned), but it has artwork on the CD which is specific to the promo (kind of a joke about not being for sale), and even the jewel case has promo-specific art. I've compared the promo and official releases, and a lot of work went into the promo! Brian Begin forwarded message: For my part I think it's expensive enough ... As with any band, promo releases are not about making money, but about advertising. As such, they are not sold, and are not intended for fans. A good promoter will know the DJs at radio stations in areas where there are many fans, they will know contacts are retail CD stores, and if it is a touring band they will know representatives who can book clubs or other venues where the band might play. Depending upon how important each avenue is (radio play, retail record sales, live boooking), the promoter for a band will determine how many promo CDs are needed. Depending upon the budget, enough promo CDs are pressed to be given away - mailed specifically to the people in the business. What happens is that radio stations give away promos that they will never play (sometimes to interns who sell them right away), and other marketing types probably clean house every once in a while since they get promos all the time. These promos makes their way to used record shops, eBay, and to collectors. Part of what makes a promo so special and so colectable is that there really is no way to get one officially unless you are a DJ at a prominent radio station, owner of a retail record store, or owner of a venue where the band wants to perform. Brian Begin forwarded message: Definitively : how can you get a promo CD of YEllo in the normal (!) way ?!
