Re: [Yello] ftp vs. copyright?
From: organism@hydrophilus.com
An alternative could be that the FTP site would be at "ftp.yello.ch". Yeah, you get that set up, and we'll roll our stuff right over. You just let us know once that server is available. [ ... ] It is nowadays for Yello very easy to fix the situation: set up a commercial mp3 site. Again, you just let us all know when that's up and running!
I have nothing to do with Yello management. I will post my mail to Yello management too as I already planned. My article was a discussion between all the parties involved, not with us only. I have already posted to Yello management on this issue a couple of months ago, but got no reply at that time.
Of course, Yello could always set up a proper site for purchasing high quality mp3 files either individually, in punch, or in yearly subscription basis. Here's another copy of the pertinent part of the README.FIRST file found on the server, since you appear to have missed its earlier posting:
That was not the point. I have seen the readme file. No matter what you write to that file, it all is illegal. I were worried about Rene who seemed to keep the FTP site on his work computer. When police comes, they take the whole computer. If Yello sets up ftp.yello.ch with the same readme file, then that would make us all be safe. It also gives Yello more time to make quality releases of rarities without keeping us on hold anymore.
In any case, it can be debated (in court, not here please)... Then you should not have brought it up here. You offer your misguided opinion and immediately wish to deny responses? That is very bad for you.
I only mean that there is no point of discussing about it here. We need a case in court, and highest possible decision on the issue. Nothing else matters. Best regards, Juhana

Again, then, if "there is no point of discussing about it here", then you oughtn't have mentioned it. That's terrible form. And I disagree with you. Too much court telling people what they can and cannot do. It's courts that have gotten us into this problem in the first place, years and decades and more of courts being sold to those who pay the most for their time inside the halls of "justice", all to protect the "rights" of corporations. Well, corporations don't have rights, people have Rights! I am sick to death of this whole argument. The only thing at stake here are the fat pockets of a few greedy pigs. Let them return to planet Earth, to reality. Let them do real work, instead of forcing parasitism. Let Yello offer these things for sale. I *will* buy them. Until they are available for purchase, then I *will* exercise whatever means at my disposal to hear the music that I want to hear. If Yello the band comprising Dieter and Boris and their entourage wish for their fans to hear the fruits of their labor, then let us see proof! Make the fruit available!!! Until then, it is totally pointless for some fat-headed corporate stocking-stuffer to sit behind a desk and issue edicts declaring how his precious parasitic entity is supposedly suffering because we are sharing shit that ISN'T EVEN AVAILABLE FOR SALE!!!!!!!!!! I am, ghost_crab [gcr]

Have you tried ebay? or other record / mail order stores that offer used Yello items? You can find virtually every mix and b-side out there. Well there are about 5 to 6 songs that will be super hard to find. But all other items that people are trading you can buy with no problem. If you are collecting YELLO that is a different situation. If you are looking for that hard to find cover art or something. But the songs on there are the same as other easy to find items. So check out Jonas list and lazlo's list to see what you are missing and what you need to get as far as the songs you are looking for. I know you will find %80 of the songs you want. And if you can't find them ask some of the guys here. I know i would gladly keep my eye out for something you are looking for or may already know where you can find it! I do wish and a long dream of mine that YELLO would release re-mastered albums and b-sides. But that's a different story. So make your list get on ebay, GEMM, or musicmatch and start digging. julz
