RE: Yello Digest, Vol 12, Issue 5
This person who wrote this so called review must have some serious hatred for genius. Must be one of those musicians in the 80's who did not make it and is still holding a grudge against those with talent who did. If you notice there really was not much in the way of critique, just dislike: A PROFESSIONAL WRITER would go into the reasons for disliking it and also the details of engineering, mastering, sequencing, what studio it was done in, guest appearances, and other relevant layers of the process. This so called musical expert knows nothing of the material since Stella . . .objective? exhastive reasearch? professional? Not really just another little man with a chip on his sholder and a small penis. What does it matter whether this person wrote a review about Yello that people on this list did not like? I even saw some unsavoury comments here from members towards him/her, just because they wrote this unflattering review. Who cares? Everyone is entitled to an opinion and just because it's something we do not agree with, does not mean he/she deserves to be condemned for it. There are a lot of people's opinion's I do not agree with, but I defend anyone's right to be able to utter them without being attacked by people just because they do not agree with them. It doesn't matter what he said and it doesn't matter that people do not agree with what he said. It doesn't even warrant a long boring debate on this group over it. What matters is that we are here to share our love of Yello's music; not condemn those that do not like it. Let us respect other people's opinion's just as we ask them to respect ours. I don't think anyone is arguing that he has the right to his opinion. Just that his opinion isn't based on any research or knowledge. I agree with everything Caspar said, personally (except perhaps the small penis remark, we have no information on the size of his package). I don't have a big love for critics because I find that most of them base their opinions on a 10-second preview of each track of an album, which isn't enough to base an article on, unless you are a bad journalist. Anyhow whatever. His opinion is Yello sucks. My opinion is he is wrong. Any jokes about maiming him should not be taken seriously. (Especially since I put my gun away). "It's only a laugh, no harm done!" Random Tox PS: I love Yello.
A lot of the points the reviewer made are true. Just not nearly to the degree the reviewer said. It is easy and fun for writers to overstate what they think. --Mark Ether wrote:
