Hi Jonathan! Cool page! If you are looking for more album covers, just have a look at the yello discograph on my (very old) homepage: http://www.unet.univie.ac.at/~a9103394/yello/pgyell.htm You can download all the images you want. I havn't updated the page for years now, that means that I have lot of stuff that I have not scanned yet. But maybe the day will come that I have time to redesign the site. Jonathan...nice page! If you want covers you should check ebay for Yello stuff. Some people have nice scans of vinyls and cd's. PaulO...I suggest that you too check ebay for the yellow cover, although I doubt it will occur very often ;-) By the way, nice ebay item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2552122941&category=1593 Chris "In his mind love is stress, he believes more is less"

Jonathan, You've done a great job with the covers on your site, I commend you on a job well done and thanks for sharing it with us. Regarding your 'wants', I have 8 covers (all 12") that I can help out with. UNFORTUNATELY, for the 12", I don't have an A3 scanner. I've been looking for a reasonably priced one for ages. I'll check out what I have on 7", might be able to help out with a couple there. Patrick
I just took pictures of my covers... much easier that way jul On Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at 07:35 AM, jabberwoc wrote:

Yep, taking pictures is an option (not for me though, don't have a digicam). However, I would add that in the past I have experimented with taking pictures of my LP covers and the results have been disappointing. However, I will borrow a digicam from a different friend and experiment. Results permitting, I will contribute some covers. Patrick ----- Original Message ----- From: Julian To: The moon: beautiful. If taking pics via a digi cam I would set it up so that light from the sun is shining on it from an angle and don't use the flash, this should help reduce the reflection that you would get back off the cover. MessageHi... This has nothing to do with Yello, but I just have a comulsive nature to share any tech stuff that helped me with others... so... Since most affordable digital camera's are still very colorblind, it is indeed best to use sunlight. Stable and diffused and most cdd seem to be optimized for holliday snapshots... :-). The ccd's interact oddly with artificial light, not even to mention fluorescent... the green horror in digital imagery. And... to fool the white balance of your camera let it measure once on a gray piece of paper that is in the sunlight you use to take the picture of your cover. Then use these settings to take the picture. Even better is when the cover itself is placed on a gray background (to prevent diffused light curling round the edges of the cover. Think of grey being the nutral between black and white. Never use a white background. This can cause los of contrast/detail and the chemicals used to make that paper so nicely white can also cause blue-ish artifacts. This cannot be seen by the human eye, but a ccd in digi cams can... :-( At work we use the latest Kodak Pro 14n... 5000 euro's if I'm correct. And it's still a pain in the butt to get quality pictures well in size (mb I mean) and correct colors. But perhaps we are just a bunch of nerds who have grown accostumed to the high ress color definition of the good old Kodak 6x6cm EPP film or 4x5 inch and the drumscanner from DainNippon Screen. A scanner with such a high resolution that one can even reveal hairfractures in film and see how the grain is constructed. - The latest versions of Canon scanners (lide 20/30) are so compact that even between the edge of the casing and the glassplate there's little hight difference. And thus.. with some Photoshop knowledge one could scan a vinyl album cover on the A4 plate in two segments and reconstruct the lot. To which I want to add that this does require some skill in Photoshop and understanding it's massive loads of tricks. The thing with Photoshop is to be able to use it in a way so no one can tell you used it. Then it has become a tool instead of an artists brush. - Rene
This reminds of my first experience with graphics on a computer - which is somewhat Yello-related. When I was making my first incarnation of my Yello webpage, SUITE 909, back in '96 all I had was one of those hand-held scanners, and it was just wide enough to scan about two thirds of a CD-cover. So I had to scan the covers in my Yello collection in two segments, with a handheld scanner, and those of you with experience with such a scanner, knows that it takes a very steady hand to get a solid image, with the right proportions with such a tool. Afterwards I aligned the two segments in Paint Shop Pro v3. Took me ages to digitize those covers, but the result was... well... fairly good considering, hehe /Dava ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rene" <t013463@tip.nl> To: "The moon: beautiful.
