Patrick, I do everything in Photoshop 7.0 in fact I can't think of anything you cant do in Photoshop. If your going to take the time to learn a program definitely learn Photoshop. I'd suggest joining NAPP National Association of Photoshop Professionals http://www.photoshopuser.com/ They helped me a lot. Plus when you join you are automatically subscribed to Photoshopuser magazine. It's full of great tutorials and tips. PIECING TOGETHER AN ALBUM COVER: It may seem like quite an undertaking but if you've worked with layers before it's quite simple. Place each piece on it's own layer and reduce the opacity of the top 3 layers. Now you can look through the top layers and line them up with the bottom layer using Free Transform. Then feather the edges so you don't get any lines where they overlap. Then flatten the image, crop it, remove any dust or scratches and color correct and your done. OK maybe it's not that simple. But believe me once you learn Photoshop you will be glad you did. Good Luck ,Jonathan PATRICK'S POST: Thanks guys for all the info about scanning and digital camera's. Slightly off the subject but useful nevertheless (and all in a good cause). Jonathan, I shall scan the covers as you requested and post them to you. BUT, can you let me know what application you use to stitch them together? Some kind soul mentioned they used to use PaintShop Pro v3 (now that's old!), is it any easier in the newer version(s)? The reason I ask is that I have some 1000 LP's that I would like to scan the covers of some of them and if it was relatively easy, then I would be prepared to invest the time to learn to do it. I have relatively new versions of PSP and Photoshop and one or two others. By the way, any news on the FTP site or has that sunk never to surface again? I have some 12" rips I would like to contribute. Covers to be scanned over the weekend. Peace to all. Patrick (a.k.a jabberwoc)
