Whose Rights are being Digitally Managed?
DRM issue: Sounds like the complaint when people get a speeding ticket and complain that the cop was behind the billboard and thats not fair. Sounds like someone is really straining to draw an analogy. Fail.
The point was made.
We all know that the copying, sharing thing is not legal... "We"? Speak for yourself there, sport.
So you feel its legal. Thats not surprising.
... just buying a used CD off eBay can be looked at as stealing... Huh? I mean, really... WTH??!!
I knew that would be beyond your comprehension. Let me explain: You can buy CDs used off eBay very cheap. Even new releases way below retail price. So the person selling them had to get them at below retail in order to make a profit. Now they are getting their money back + profit. Do you think they are sending little checks to the record companies and record producers? No. So one CD can be bought and sold by lets say 10 people the artist gets paid once when they should of gotten paid 10 times.
This recent Sony issue will probably fade away like other attempts have untill a happy medium can come about that will make consumers, artists, producers and everyone involved happy. Wow. You must be rich... being that you speak for, well, everyone.
Huh? Oh...right only YOU want to be happy you could care less about others.
Which will not be anytime soon as I see it. I sure would like to have a piece of the action of the guy the figures out a solution to all this. Heh. That's hilarious. I am going to always remember how you phrased that. Snicker. Snort. Guffaw. Howl.
You don't think the guy who solves this problem will make a mint? If I were you I would be trying to come up with a solution. But thats not your style. You just complain. Nothing ever positive.

Here Here!! I'm all for that!! (will it happen?, probably not)

I think someone has made an astute observation here too!

You could personall fuel an army with the river of bullshit you spew with *such* regularity. And so, by your logic, *nothing* could ever be sold used without the buyer or seller sending a "rights" check off to the original producer? Books? Cars? Movies? Furniture? Houses? Anything? Oh, and by the way, this issue has /long/ since been settled, ever since Garth Brooks decided that he wanted royalties from all used sales back in the mid-nineties. His greed was greeted with the universal derision it deserved.
It might be well for you to read up a bit more on copyright infringement vs. theft, which it isn't, as no property is deprived. Again, this is well settled, and is *not* at issue in any court. Only the underinformed and iTards such as yourself continue to equate the two.

I am going to always remember how you phrased that. Snicker. Snort. Guffaw. Howl. You don't think the guy who solves this problem will make a mint? That's not what I said. "I knew that would be beyond your comprehension." What I was laughing about is how you said that you would, and I quote, "like to have a piece of the action of the guy [that] figures out a solution to all this". Well, beside being uberfamous and just the prettiest duckling ever as far as The Man is concerned, I'm just sure he's all atwitter knowing that you're there simpering away, hoping to "have a piece of his action". But wait, what if it's a woman? Will you still want a piece of /her/? Well, here's hoping that your seediest of dreams is realized. Truly. Really. [Snicker]
Nothing ever positive. Yes, and you're the princess of glee and good times for all.

This very thing has been resolved in the world of FINE ART and SCULPTURE, royalties have been paid to artist's estates through the re-sale of works. Also, more importantly, I recall a specific case in Toronto, (Ontario Canada), whereby an artist was comissioned to create a sculpture for the EATON'S CENTRE (that is a huge mall downtown, if you weren't aware). Since the Artist was paid for the work, the corperate owners decided to decorate the mall for CHRISTMAS (none of this 'festive season' stuff here). They decided to place decorate bows and ribbons around the necks of the Canada Geese that are the mobile type artistic installation in the mall. Long Story short, the Artist sued the corperation for tampering, and won. the ribbons were removed promptly.
