Very interesting. I wonder whether all 100 prizes were claimed or if - all these years later - there are some forms collecting dust under the counters of some HMV stores in the UK. I'd bet even IF they hadn't been collected the counters have long since been cleaned up of partly eaten Wimpy burgers and ... Yello prize forms. I wonder whether any of the store staff, wise to the prize, went in and opened a bunch of albums looking for a winner. Granted, a trip to Switzerland from the UK isn't as novel as it would be, say, from Oz or Canada, but free is free and the typical low-paid sales staff in a record store would likely jump at such a deal. But if there's any unclaimed prizes I wonder if they would still honour them. -----Original Message----- From: yello-bounces+rfiler=sierrawireless.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:yello-bounces+rfiler=sierrawireless.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of organism@hydrophilus.com Sent: Saturday, October 23, 2004 8:18 AM To: yello@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Yello] Dieter Meier Message, un-trolled Klonk Sat, 23 Oct 2004 01:59:31 -0500 veschprigt mroktar Jon Kamm <kammagic@comcast.net> [re: [Yello] Dieter Meier Message]:
Just posted this Dieter item on the Forum. Thought you might be interested.
And for those of you who don't feel like being trolled, here's what you get at the above link: - - - - - - Hi, When Flag was released in the UK, HMV did a special promotion and 100 LP's were pressed with a specially recorded message by Deiter Meier just before the start of the first track explaining that you were the holder of one of only 100 LP's and that you should take it back to the HMV shop from which it was bought, to claim an unforgettable prize of a flight through the Swiss Alps. This is an exact transcript of Dieter's message: Click Here For Sample [http://homepage.mac.com/jonathankamm/Dieter-Message-Sample.mp3] "You are listening to the voice of Dieter Meier from Yello." "This is one out of only a hundred special limited edition records." "You could win a trip to Switzerland." "All you have to do is take this record back to the HMV shop where you purchased it and play it to one of the shop assistants to prove that this very message is on it." "Fill out the form which the shop assistant will give you with your name and address and answer a simple question." "The form will be sent back to the head office and will be entered into a free prize draw." "The lucky winner whose name is pulled out of the box plus a guest will each receive tickets for an all expenses paid weekend in Switzerland including an unforgettable flight through the Swiss Alps." His voice is very creepy. I don't think I would want to fly in that plane. _________________ Jonathan - - - - - - Glad to be of service. --gcr _______________________________________________ Yello mailing list Yello@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/yello Report list abuse to list-abuse at studio-nibble.com
I think that there was to be one winner out of the possable 100 invitations selected by random draw of all entries submitted by a certain date, and that person won the trip for two., and to save space, i shall remove all of the previous message in this reply. You can thread up the message or scope out the archives to find the original message. (I ain't no intentional troll poster) Laurens van Graft The Grip Guy All your gymnastics grip needs right here!
