At that time in the 80's Yello were considered as electronics Avantgardisten and it were chic to have at least one of its two success albums "Stella" or "You Gotta Say Yes ton of Another Excess" in the disk cabinet. Two Swiss were overrated and their single successes sound perfect already at that time today - contrary to projects such as The kind OF Noise - after cheap 80's-Pop. One hardly believes it, but Yello exist actually still. But the time passed them perfectly. "The Eye" is a altbackenes, completely redundant album, which reaches really deeply into the 80's-mothball box. The inexpressible sounds and this pseudo jazz Geklimper are pure smooth-ironed Pop, as it is to propel the masses in each x-arbitrary department store to the consumption. On the point Yello drive it, by copying their own sounds in each second song simply. Only small light view is a singer Jade Davie, which strives itself fairly around nice melodies. Which all thing is one of these technical OI OP-Parts reasonable to take out? Who looks for good contemporary electronics music, which should tunlichst the fingers of "The Eye" to leave. Also (perhaps remaining) the Yello fans should rather insert the originals - and I recommend those to each Popfreund here by far innovativeren Snap! It is evenly nevertheless better to stop, before one becomes its own caricature! [ tvd ] What a load of bullshit. One very opinionated reviewer who obviously has a dislike for that genre altogether. Wanker! Paul J *

I totally agree. Let's track him down and pummel him repeatedly with Celine Dion's severed left arm.

Well, there's too much of that going on in the world right now already, let's just feel sad for him for what he misses out on. Obviously he's incapable of enjoying any music outside the most current top-40 lists. -- Jussi Salmi http://staff.cs.utu.fi/~jussalmi/
That was a joke of course. In real live I'm a peacefull musician.:) But yesterday I saw " The Usual Suspects"on tv. And I was impressed by Mr. Sosse. Cheers. I got your joke. I would like to have a small, 4" x 4" door in my front door, so when salepeople knock I can just open the little door and stick a gun barrel out in their face and make that gun cocking noise that those big guns make. Like the Osbournes have that squirting thing that douses people in water when they ring the bell! Good thing for humanity I don't keep guns or probably couldn't load and shoot one if my life depended on it. ;-) And I live in TEXAS! The state that lets you carry guns around if you have a gun carrying permit, which is quite easy to obtain. Oh that wasn't about Yello was it. I love Yello! And don't they have a great song She's Got A Gun. Love it! -----Original Message----- From: yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Arno Sent: Tuesday, February 10, 2004 12:43 PM To: The moon: beautiful. Hey am I wrong, or is this bugger dissing the Art Of Noise as well?? Or am I reading it wrong? <goes to get his gun, just in case> Random Tox
I read this: The fart of a reviewer claims that Yello was already overated back then. Yello's single successes sound like cheap '80's pop tracks, in contrast to projects like The Art of Noise.

I think I will shoot him anyhow. In many ways I think that Yello sounded better than AoN, especially around the late 80's... but then they aren't really that much alike are they? Random Tox

I think the reviewer is in the wrong genre - and should stick to what they normally review he either knows nothing about Yello, or was so disappointed with the eye (which i find hard to believe) that he had an axe to grind about it. Dan
Hi to all, the last couple of days my ISP had troubles with mail. So if any of you mailed me anything important or send a follow to a discussion, please resend. Don' wanna miss any'tin. Rene

The reviewer might be wrong about some things, but he's right about "The Eye". It's easily Yello's worst album and a big disappointment after the pleasant "Motion Picture" and the superb "Pocket Universe".
"On the point Yello drive it, by copying their own sounds in each second song simply."
I agree. The album is a poor rehashing of some of their earlier sounds, except without good songwriting.
"Only small light view is a singer Jade Davie, which strives itself fairly around nice melodies."
I disagree. Although her voice is OK on some of the songs, by the third or fourth song her presence becomes annoying and I've got to just take the CD out of the player. Don't get me wrong. I love Yello, but their "good" production is now below 50% over their career. I consider the good albums to be: Stella One Second Flag Pocket Universe Motion Picture The rest I can do without, but even Baby and Zebra shine in comparison to The Eye. Sorry I don't like the new one, really, I am, since I was expecting so much from it. But I will always buy the next one hoping for something even better. At least Yello doesn't do the same thing from album to album; it's just that I don't always like the surprise. Paul
