music industry. Sharing music is like a drug pusher getting a new junkie hooked! the first couple are free, then when you get hooked on a new band, you want all you can get, and buy a lot to get the complete catalogue, just like us Yello fans. This creates more sales for the Artists and labels in general.
But Yello and record company are not selling their stuff at all! The junkie got hooked, but go mad because nobody sells the stuff. All what are rarely available are the records which are recirculating. No money goes to Yello or to record company. Yello could sell their songs in mp3 or wav format from their webpage if they really care about the money but don't want burden their record company and CD/DVD printers. Regards, Juhana
[ All what are rarely available are the records which are recirculating. [ No money goes to Yello or to record company. You don't think that new people are discovering Yello all the time and buying the same old records we already have? [ Yello could sell their songs in mp3 or wav format from their webpage [ if they really care about the money but don't want burden their record [ company and CD/DVD printers. Don't be so sure about this. Yello may have a contract with the record label(s) which prevents them from selling their songs directly. I know that many artists cannot sell their own CD for less than retail prices because the record company does not want competition from the artist on price. They do give the artist hundreds of copies of their music, but they cannot legally sell the CDs for a "fair" price (fair being a lot lower than retail). Business is complex, and often hard to understand. Brian

Tou have to wait until the contract expires, and the rights to the published music returns to the artist before this can happen. This happened to PRINCE, after he got shafted by SONY, he couldn't even usr his name, as that was partof the contract. Now that that has expired, he is using it again. Remember 'The Artist Formerly Known AS.." and for a while, he was just using an old Egyption Hyroglyph, to get around that sticky part. Aaaahhh Prince. That little Freak! When that first Purple Rain movie came out I had just graduated high school, fun memories of group of friends going to see the movie, playing that tape and going to the lake to hang out and make out. And of course, I was also converting followers to Yello by then! I didn't know that was why he changed his name. Interesting. -----Original Message----- From: yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:yello-bounces+tourguide=austexecotours.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Laurens van Graft Sent: Friday, May 14, 2004 4:48 PM To: The moon: beautiful.
