That's the third time I've seen this message. I hope it appears on the list this time!] Hi all, Well, I've done a bit of research this afternoon on what QuickTime 7 (for the Mac) is and isn't capable of, and I've got good news for everyone. It would appear that QuickTime 7 Pro does support the creation of "pure" MPEG-4 video files, that is, files with the file extension ".mp4". This is the ISO standard and should work on Macintosh, Windows, and even on your mobile phone (so long as it doesn't exceed the screen resolution/processing power.) Windows users can install ffmpeg or another MPEG-4 codec in order to view these files in their media player of choice. QuickTime 7 for Windows would NOT be required. So that's the easy solution for everybody. Use QuickTime 7 by all means, just don't use it to create ".mov" files, create ".mp4" files instead. You'll still get all the same compression features, etc. (And incidentally, many sites I read stated that Nero Digital on a Windows PC produced better quality .MP4 files, and faster, than Quick Time 7. <grin>) Michael _______________________________________________ Yello mailing list Yello@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/yello Report list abuse to list-abuse at studio-nibble.com
