For my part Solid Pleasure is like a primary album with some interesting stuffs indeed but NOT the real Yello's touch found in Baby or Flag per exemple. I think it's more important for a fan than a person who never heard about Yello... (BTW "Blue Green" is one of my favorite tracks from the beginning :) )
I don't know, I think the "Yello feel" has changed a lot over the years, though its still easy to recognise their songs. Solid Pleasure is my favourite album as well, and I think it's because its innovativeness. And it seems that they have some real "anger" and effort in that album. It has some very special moments. The newer albums are very different from their early stuff, but still there is something similar to the early ones. Listened closely, there are a lot of different sounds in the background of the songs, many more than with other bands, so maybe that's where that special feel comes. Boris really is a sound freak. What I've found very peculiar, is that the newer albums have always sounded incoherent to me at first, but they have really grown on me afterwards. I wrote a small review of The Eye recently, but already now I think quite differently about it. Last night I listened to it, and I loved it although I was more critical in the review. -- Jussi Salmi http://staff.cs.utu.fi/~jussalmi/
