Blu-Ray disc authoring is still a lot more expensive than DVD authoring. But of course the ultra high-quality result is worth it in my opinion. -----Original Message----- From: yello-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:yello-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Glenn Folkvord - PlanetOrigo.com Sent: Sunday, November 15, 2009 11:34 AM To: The moon: beautiful. No I think it is. Hybrid Blu-ray/DVD's came out in at the beginning of this
year (I think) so they would be much more expensive to make. I can't imagine them releasing a none hybrid version since not too many people have
Blu-ray players.
Nobody talked about a hybrid version. Kevin-something confirmed to Jon Kamm that the BluRay master is done and ready to go. So it could not have been a cost prohibitive process, as suggested by Jon first. They shot in 4K HD and made the master! Now it is just a matter of sales and marketing. A DVD/BluRay combo package is another thing, that's essentially two discs in one package, which is being done by many movie studios now. There is nothing special or expensive about that either. It's like any other double-disc release, technically speaking.
