As for Yello (and any artist for that matter), one illegal free download is lost income (i.e. stealing)
First, illegal downloads are not stealing. There are special laws for intellectual property infringement and they are not laws about theft. Second, I would be very surprised if anyone here - hardcore Yello fans - would substitute the real CD for a download that isnt even complete. Even if the whole album was up for grabs, which I am sure it will be on the day of release, real fans buy the official product. So I dont think members here will cause a big loss for Yello. Third, most serious research shows that there is no widespread correlation between illegal downloads and reduced sales. In other words, most illegal downloads go to people who would not buy the official release anyway.
- that's why copyright laws exist.
Actually, no. Copyright exists to ensure that creative works are not "owned" and exploited by any one too long, and that it will move into the public domain sooner or later, for the benefit of everyone. But that's another discussion alltogether. I still dont think it's nice to post these files here. Someone somewhere broke a promise by doing this. Now, flame away :-) Greetings from Glenn Folkvord Chief editor http://www.PlanetOrigo.com Electronic Music Shop & Magazine Free shipping, bonuses and exclusives!
