That comes to a grand total of 91.4% of the computer users in the world can view H.264 content with no problem.
____IF_____ they are properly encoded, which yours have not been, the very last excluded. And I am not the only one to have complained. Your stats, by the way, are perhaps misleading. Just because 'pewters are /capable/ of playing content from your iReligion does *not* make it )a) best or )b) "beautiful". Other more accessibly codecs exist, which I point out to you again, are viewable "beautifully" by __100%__ of the computers. XVID is totally cross-platform. DIVX is cross-platform. Also, the players you mention are irrelevent. The availability of the separately-installed codec, upon which the player depends for playback of relevant content, and for which the player is effectively just a "front end", is what matters. And now we come to Prior Grip's bleating... your implications about "others" not posting material constitute for derision and your tacit suggestion that all lowly recipients must silently and gratefully lick iKamm's boots for being such a Gracious and Benevolent god for us are, well, just stoopit.:
We're waiting for the alternative offerings...... Bueller?, Bueller?, Bueller? Having video capture hardware and having the skulljello to use it properly are clearly two different things. Your "point" is backwards. It seems clear, though obviously not to you, that a person who is in a position to capture and distribute this material, and who poses as a benevolent benefactor to this list would want to assure that said distributed material was in a format that would, to abuse the word further, benefit the greatest number of people. However, this is very clearly not the case. iKamm has chosen his holy iCodec without any consideration for others, and you continue to bleat along behind him. I am not the only one who has reported difficulty with iKamm's swillage. Surely, I have been the most vocal [aw, shucks, I just don't deserve your applause!]... but then again, mindless obiesence to propaganda has always goaded me.
Sure, share your stuff. That's great. I have also many, many times made a point of saying "thanks for the share" /separate/ from complaint against the format. And there's no /law/ that says anyone has to use a cetain format. What continues to sicken me is iKamm's idiotic, everything-is-happy-here-in-fun-land refusal to admit that his compressions have been, up to but not including the last, /deeply flawed/. This arrogant unwillingness to accept criticism places him in my targets above all else. I have also pointed out before that iKamm is not the only person on this planet to use H264. Many movie trailers and other content is being distributed in this format, and I personally have been able to view all of it. IT'S iKAMM'S /METHODS/ THAT SUCK HERE. He's playing around with tools that are for him experimental, BY HIS OWN ADMISSION, and expecting us to ooh and aahhhh over his crappy learning curve.
nobody has posted them. I'd rather watch jon's offerings than a blank screen with nothing at all Certain of us, myself included, have contributed much, albeit not in the video market recently.
I remind you, Prior Grip, that antecedent to the latest swill emitted from the Ori, there /were/ MPEG2 caps of the Essential Yello vids, in complete form, on the FTP server, way back. .... Which files were and are still playable by /anyone, anywhere, with anything/. So to correct your bleat, nobody has made available any /video/ ... /for a while/. And don't you worry your pretty little head. I am sure that cross-platform versions of everybody's favourite vids will become available soon enough. It's been said that this list is supposed to be about Yello. I agree - that goes without argument. However, when you share material that is flawed, and ignore reports/complaints that your compressions are crap, you can hardly expect silence amongst the ranks. Fix your shit and just /watch/ me go silent. Bleat now. --gcr
