While many of the tracks of Zebra are in a different vein than what WE (You and I) are used to. However, I cannot find any fault with the likes of NIGHT TRAIN, FAT CRY, even DO IT. In fact , Night Train is an incredible track (Pun actually intended:). It is a more dance oriented album, but that is even stated by Boris in an interview regarding the album (Link to it was on the board a couple of weeks ago). One of the things that I like most about musicians and bands is that when they grow, they tryout new things, explore new avenues, improving their sound and ideas along the way (ie: THE POLICE, YELLO, DEPECHE MODE, BLANCMANGE, TRACY CHAPMAN...)
Unfortunately, there are some bands that released 3 or more albums without ant advancement in their sound or lyric content (no maturity/growth/development) between albums. A perfect example of this is the ART OF NOISE. If you played one track from each of their albums to someone and asked them to put them in order of earliest to most recent, they couldn't do it because they all sound the same. DON"T miss-understand me, I really enjoy them, but there is no creative advancement between each Album.(Lenny Kravits is guilty of this too, but still good music).
Zebra is one such excursion that, as I can see doesn't DO IT for some (many), but I... I"M IN LOVE with Yello and still enjoy everything they have done. I hope I wasn't a TREMENDOUS PAIN to you all,
Hmmmmmm. That album came out TEN years ago!
