We do love you. Really we do. Now you're just being silly. But thanks for the effort anyway.
I could be reading you wrong, and if I am, I am sure someone will leap forward and waggle a finger... but... It seems to me that your expressed desire to share your "loot" with as many as possible conflicts with your statement, "I will be posting new content that will only play with QuickTime 7." Why restrict viewing for a mere 4.9% decrease in filesize [on a 3.2mb file]? If one is truly looking to share with as many as possible over as long a timeline as possible, then it seems to me that one would seek out one of the many highly cross-platform, non-proprietary codecs that exist. XviD springs to mind. Wrap it as an AVI with ogg or even mp3 audio. On the other hand, what are the motivations of someone who chooses not only proprietary codecs, but a [maybe not bleeding edge but at least ] recently-scabbed edge version of it? Elitism? Mindless parroting? Dunno. It's beyond me, though. Don't get it at all. Sure, you're excited about your shiny new toy. I get that and appreciate it. Think about it. Why don't all these eeeeeeeeevil P2P Arrrrr! Pirate Minions of Hell out there Supporting Terrorism and Destroying Democracy... and Freedom [*sniff* we luvya, Dubya!] by capping and distributing movies and publically transmitted television programmes, use QuickSlime formats? Why do they all use XviD [and some DiVX still]? QuickSLime caps are /rare/. Why? CUZ IT SUXXOR! Nobody with a will of their own wants to have their tools controlled by capricious megacorporations that sue their own fans. DRM is anathema to a free society, which, unless I am again mistaken, is the desire of all [save the ruling class, perhaps]. This QuickSlime Crap for which you shill Apple places you in queue along with other notable propriatary practitioners... Apple is every single bit as bad as MicroShaft when it comes to being monopolistic and proprietary. They just have the religious/cult following that prevents such a hue and cry. Granted, things in the iCamp have improved since the adoption of a BSD base. In the end, it mattereth not unto me one whit what operating system one uses - it's the mindless shilling and groveling at the feet of Gates and/or Jobs that sends me through the roof. Think different indeed. Offtopic retopification: Also, Yello is an awesome band. Yes, I know that Boris uses a Mac. Great computers, if that's what you like. Spendy as hell, but hey, he can afford it. For sure. For great justice. --gcr
