... the videos are mostly just plain stupid. A couple are ok, but they are always making goofy faces. I could not disagree more. While I find the bulk of Yello's videos to be in the same flavour, that flavour is, for me, highly indicative of and saturated with that inimitable Yello style: that of men who wear /very/ nice suits suits, neck kerchiefs, and are simply redolent with style and tangible class. These productions are not the hormono-triggers ejaculated by major corporate mulch pulpers - no frizzy haired gobblers wearing spandex and no shirt howling about the alleged virtues of drilling some underage girl in an elevator, for instance.
Anyways, this is a nice vid. The imagery is almost as pleasant as the sound, and it begs to be "interpreted". I find "To the Sea" to be a very refreshing departure from that classic Yello video style. Sure, I find also much symbolism in the presentation. It is truly entrancing to watch the strange vistas unfold in synchronized-to-the-music slowed motion.
For some reason, I similarize TTS with Kai Tracid's "Conscious" video, which offtopically I mention as being another favourite worth re-watching. [It's a very simple p2p search]. However, to each his or her own. A delight for one is a depression for another. May Dieter and Boris live long and prosper in these troubling times and declining music sales. It has been mentioned before, and I echo the sentiment: Gentlemen, unfamiliarity with the nature of your contracts with your record label[s] notwithstanding, I suggest to you strongly that you seek a more direct solution to your distribution needs. Sell your loot yourselves. Death to megacorporate record labels! Long live the real artists! --gcr
