Laurens Well said, I agree with everything you mention, especially about Bryan Ferry. It was a cringeworthy performance for sure. I think he was at his most relaxed in Dieter's shop and that exchange was the most pleasant to watch because Mr. Ferry was actually a little animated. And Dieter *was* every bit the gracious host you say. Your summation is right on and a nice reminder of the vid. Which I haven't watched for a while. The sun: even more beautiful. Subject: [Yello] back to Durch Die Nacht Well, I finally had the opportunity to view the whole video, thanks to Jonn and others. How unfortunate it was to have let the producers put such an introverted character, Brian Ferry, into the realm of such an artistic and knowledgeable extrovert, our hero, Dieter! I laughed and laughed at Dieter's very sharply honed whit, and felt so sad whenever I saw Brian, he looked so much like a fish out of water, and so shy. It was painful to watch him squirm about all the time. He must live such a sheltered life, that he doesn't know how to react in any situation, whilst Dieter had everyone in stitches, "Look at me, I'm an oil tycoon.... You can only trust me because of the hat I'm wearing!" While I get the gist of the series, have one popular artist get a personal tour of another's home (town), this was just such a poor match-up of characters, Brian looked as if he wanted to go home after the first two minutes. I almost swore that he was going to just run away at the end of the show, and not even get back into the car. I bet that as soon as the camera was off him then, he just started to sob with relief, glad that that whole unpleasant ordeal was over, then take a nap, as he looked totally exhausted (he's so British!) (and what the heck am I going to do with this scarf?). I also doubt that he'll ever turn up in South America either. Dieter, on the other hand was just what I expected him to be, A gracious host, proud of his own endeavors and achievements, and had set up a very fun day full of very interesting places to visit. any or all of them should have stimulated some interesting conversation and reaction from his guest, but he got nothing. I can only imagine how hard it was for him to 'drag' Brian around. Had Brian given any input, or showed any interest in any of the things or places he was taken, Dieter would have been able to adapt to the situation and taken him to more places that sparked some sort of reaction from Brian, but he got nothing. The result, would have been a total wash up, had it not been for the performance of Dieter! Laurens van Graft The Grip Guy All your gymnastics grip needs right here!
