Hey folks!
It's one thing that I wounder about. Of course you do not need to answer this, but are there any women on this mailinglist?
Well, I don't know if other female members of this mailing list exist (I sometimes wonder!) but I'm certainly female so the the answer is yes. I've been in this mailing list since 1997, however, under another name.
I've always had in mind that Yello isn't the kind of music women like (exept for The Rythm Divine, Drive Driven and similar songs).
Well, I believe it depends on an individual. For instance, I know some women who like Yello. However, I agree that there are much more male fans. I don't know why. Well, the truth is, not so many people in general, both male and female, know Yello, and very few people like Yello. I believe this is because their music isn't *acceptable* for everyone. First of all, they play in SO many styles that it's not possible for many people to like all their songs, since it's normal to average human being to like only few styles in music. Second, if Yello had only the songs like The Rhythm Divine or Drive/Driven etc, they would probably have been much more popular. But tell me honestly, are MANY people, having heard, say, The Race, or Goldrush, or Oh Yeah, could understand and appreciate them?! I doubt so. Yello's music is too *strange* and unusual for average ear to be accepted by masses. I believe this is the reason why their music is not on MTV or whatever channels or radio stations very often. It's much more profitable for those channels and radio stations to air popular, *normal* music to have higher ratings, right? But well, I also believe those who trully accepted Yello once, would be their fans forever. One must FEEL Boris' music, Dieter's lyrics and videos to be true fan of them. And I believe this one would LIVE in Yello world -- not just *like* their music and just *listen to it*. I always say to anyone that Yello isn't just a music. It's THE world, the culture you can live in. For instance, I must admit that nothing had influenced my whole life more than Yello had (I became a fan at the age 16, the age when the whole world outlook gets formed). Yello has never been my favourite group because to me it's much more than just a music. It's sort of religion (religion it terms of psychology, of course -- I'm not a *fanatic*). To continue this theme, I would like you to answer the questions: what is Yello for you? What place they occupy in your life (not just musical tastes)? Have they ever influenced your life and mind somehow? How have you become a fan? He picked a sparrow up and took him home. Then he put a sparrow to a cage, put some water and crumbs of bread there... Suddenly the phone call made him go. ...A sparrow came to himself, looked around and cried, "A cage... Water and bread... It means I'm in a jail!!!!! MY GOD! I KILLED A BIKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
