What is important is the fact that he was born, and creates the music that we all love! I hope that he continues to do so for many many years to come! as an aside, I also think that the both of them have aged VERY well! Dieter still looks slim, trim and Healthy (a good sign for more good stuff to come), and carries himself with as great distinction as any dignified man should! I would chalk that up to his time he spends at Ojo de Agua (or however he spells his ranch in Argentina). Plus being born into a well-to-do family doesn't hurt. Farming is hard work, and in most cases (except for growing poppies or cannibis sativa [sp?]) is not the most lucrative endeavor. It is more a thankless labour of love. On the other hand, my take on it is that Dieter does it as a hobby; Hobby: Noun - the work we do when we're not doing the work we're paid to do :) Hobbys are fun and fun keeps us young! Boris has also fared well with age, but shows signs of being at the studio a lot (a somewhat sedentary lifestyle) I don't know about sedentary. I recall from an article recently that he swims every morning. from what photos I have seen recently, and still looks to be in his early to mid 30's, though recent info pegs him at mid 40's to 50's. I first noticed the difference between the young Boris and the present-day one in the video for Squeeze Please. A little thicker around the middle, perhaps? But none of that matters! One web site I read stated that Boris Blank was born in 1952, which I have a hard time believing. If you look at the photos from early Yello albums, Boris looks WAY to young to be in his early 30's. Another site listed his birthday as July 14, 1961 (I'm more inclined to believe this). He graduated from high school in 1979 and formed Yello that same year with fellow musician Carlos Peron. Later that year, Dieter Meier joined up. That's the story (as I read it). I hope this clears everything up. Tom

Uh, I just sent a link to Hit Thing records "bio" on Yello. but now that I look again I see it is only a teaser, not the full liner notes. How this happened is I read the full notes SOMEWHERE on the web, somehow linked from the label's website, but now can't find it. Oh well, you all should have bought these LPS by now anyway. Most interesting was the story of how Boris and Carlos came to San Francisco to give their demo tapes to Ralph Records unannounced and speaking "very little English". By the way, who knows the story of why Carlos left Yello anyway? Dave Gilleran

I sure will. He is a fairly determined and enthusiastic record-finder. He can see if any local distributors will do the importing for us and then he can ship it to you, etc. at less of a mark-up. According to a few bios out on the net, Boris was born in 1938 - that would make him nearly 70. There is NO WAY he's 70!? I remember a thread several months ago about their birthdays but don't recall how old they are. Anyone know? This link is one bio, for example.
