Hi all... I'm relaying this message to the list. It will explain our problems with the FTP. Until further notice you don't have to bother to apply for access or ask questions about it. -------------------- the message -------------- Hello all, Wow, that definitely went way, way worse than I expected. I just moved five hundred miles away. I've been unplugged for five days, just getting back online today. And now I see that there has been a serious, no-kidding /coup/ in my absence. yello.technologypimps.com is /dead, dead, dead/ for the time being. I have a backup of all verified content [meaning to the exclusion of "/uploads"] as of wednesday, the 16th of this month instant. FOR NOW IT IS DEAD, but fear not! A brand new server is in the making, and will be up for service [hopefully] very soon. I apologize profusely for the serious inconvenience. My Top Ten

It's been a fun exercise, trying to sift through all the goodies. I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. On the other hand, it's been interesting to see what others have selected. So far, from all the respondents, the following songs all have more than 1 vote. From Bananas on down, they get 2 votes, and the first two get 3 votes. Capri Calling Desire Bananas To The Beat Blender Desert Inn Santiago The Race (full length) ------------ My Choices ----------------- 1 - Bananas to the Beat The gibberish (I thought it was a south pacific language) is great. The total package is eccentric and fun. 2 - Pinball Cha Cha 3 - Daily Disco Great music to fly a plane by. 4 - Capri Calling Slow, moody and catchy without being ear-candy. Real staying power. 5 - The Race (the longer the better) A recent favorite, so it might wane in my personal popularity folder. But Beat Ash's drums hold the whole piece together beautifully. 6 - Pumping Velvet An old favorite. Chico Hablas' guitar is great in this one, and again, the lyrics, and doppler-effect instrumentation make it a perfect accompaniment to a fall evening on the way to a party in town. 7 - Call it Love As close to mainstream music as Yello ever gets, yet the Boris arrangement and use of unusual soundeffects has many a hidden pleasure for the close listener. 8 - L'Hotel A tossup between this one and Le Secret Farida. This one wins by a hair (a split hair), but let's face it, the whole FLAG album is one of Yello's all time best. 9 - Squeeze Please This one is ear-candy, I think. But I can't stop playing it, or the DePhazz mix. 10 - Of Course I'm Lying Another slow easy piece which I've always liked.

But sometimes they always last". Ask anyone who has kids how those lines resonate. No, old fellow, I would ask you to direct your cannons at the Ford Fairlane suite. *That* is worthy of a good sound spanking. Andrew Dice Clay's shtick *SUCKS*. And for Yello to bow to that level really *SUCKS*. I've got the EP and I won't even play it. Luckily I didn't have to buy it, someone gave me it. Sigh.... here we go.. please forgive me .. oh precious non top ten ones... Nr.1. Sometimes (dr. Hirsch) Nr. 2. Let Me Cry Nr. 3. Dr. van Steiner (instr. & vocal) Nr. 4. To The Sea (Stina makes me bleed) Nr. 5. Desert Inn Nr. 6. She's Got a Gun (vocal) Nr. 7. Moon on Ice Nr. 8. Le Secret Farida (I can sing it, but have no idea what I'm blabbing about) [Rory] I have a copy of Jingle Bells sung by an Inuit fellow and I can sing the words in Inuktitut, but also have no real idea what he's saying. As an addition to the collection I wanted to upload the Alphaville Big in Japan video. Dieter directed the clip, and when you look at it you can see all the typical Dieter things happen. It's a Yello video with non-Yello music and a non-Yello band. Another interesting thing is that the lady who transforms into a Geisha is said to be Dieters wife. Here's my list of Yello top 10: 1) The Race (full length) Just love the middle bit with all the toms. Very emotive 2) On The Run A great energetic instrumental track 3) Magnetic The backwards talking really appeals to me! 4) Goldrush Dieter's lyrics on this are classic, and it's abour drugs! 5) Suite 904 Another dance stomper, nice and fast, good treatment of Tremendous Pain 6) Desire Always liked the bassline on this 7) Santiago I like this because it's like two songs in one! 8) Blender A song about a flying blenders! Come on!! 9) Bananas To The Beat So ridiculous sounding I listen to it to cheer me up!
