Thank you for the good news. Lets hope it is either a standard CD or a DVD, not those explicitly broken non-standard CD formats which does not work in computer CD devices. I do not know if Yello can decide it, hope so, but be warned: as reported in Usenet, those non-standard CDs will install programs to your computer without asking your permission -- and after installation, as it is reported, you may not copy *any* CD to computer anymore. In my opinion that is all illegal. One can sell non-standard CDs yes, but intruding to customer's computer is a big no. Did all of you downloaded the loop samples from "http://www.mountedbythegods.com/"? They are most probably made by Boris but please verify yourself. Well, there are now three sample and loop collections available; other two are: -How How CD single -Yello Soundstation at www.yello.ch Has anyone the Mounted by the Gods soundtrack? Will the Yello/Boris songs in the movie be as well in the upcoming album? In any case those samples indicate that something wild could be coming. Best regards, Juhana

Greetings all. There is now available a temporary FTP service for rare / difficult to find yello music. It is recognized that J.R. has been working for some time to provide a more robust solution, but due to his time and fiscal constraints we find ourselves waiting much. In an effort to alleviate horrible strain this wait has brought upon us all, I am making available this FTP server as a sort of "preview of coming attractions". This is not an attempt to jump J.T.'s train. Once he announces the availability of his server, this one will be disabled after the content is moved to his machine. User accounts will be granted through requests posted TO THE LIST ONLY. I will respond to you directly and off the list with your username and password. All usernames will be prepended with "yello-", allowing for a maximum number of remaining digits of 11 [total of 16 characters allowed]. So, in other words, please limit the length of your username to eleven digits. If you exceed eleven digits, I will simply crop. The "yello-" per-user prefix is a necessity to satisfy the working arrangement with the hosting provider. If you hate it, sorry. Note that *all* access to this server is logged. Quoted from README.FIRST, present in the home dir of the site: ============================= Post into ./upload Grab from ./download Post only rare / difficult to find material. Do not post full albums that can be easily found. Post only good quality files. Nothing less than 128 KB mp3 / q6 OGG. No .ra, .wma, or other such crap. I have seen the readme file. No matter what you write to that file, it all is illegal. I were worried about Rene who seemed to keep the FTP site on his work computer. Copyright Issues.

HellO Speaking of Copyright. Jonas may remember, not long ago I witnessed a Canadian guy selling Rare B Sides of Yello as a bonus when someone bought a cd single via EBay. This is an obvious attempt at ripping of the musicians and fans. These tracks are totally unavailable in the form of a complete cd. However this guy sells them for 50$ us. I made mention of this because as a collector I felt ripped off that someone was getting for free and trouble free all the music that I spent years collecting and paying for. I am more than happy to share things. So long as no money trades. I think it is totally wrong to abuse copyright so blatantly. I do however believe that what we are doing is OK. We are not trying to make money, we are just sharing what (we have all paid for) we already own. Keep the FTP going, if they want to try to catch us, let em. ftp vs. copyright?

Hello. If I heard correctly the music industry have announced to attack each music downloader from now on. Rene, I suggest you close the FTP site. It is better that people share between individual persons in sense "this and that are out of print, can you make a copy of them for me?". If people want a copy of some rare item, they should ask it in the list. An alternative could be that the FTP site would be at "ftp.yello.ch". Personal ftp accounts could be free or for some suitable price (which should not be much if they offer only files contributed by the fans). Another alternative would be that Yello gives a permission for what Rene and we are doing. This would ensure Rene and we are not getting in to trouble. Of course, Yello could always set up a proper site for purchasing high quality mp3 files either individually, in punch, or in yearly subscription basis. In any case, it can be debated (in court, not here please) that copying out of print material is actually "fair use". And even if it would not be "fair use", it can be debated (in court) if Yello can ask money for damages. Yello and the record company has shown no interest in making money with their out of print music. I have waited for over 15 years for a rare Yello music, but they are still out of sight. This is a very strong sign that Yello is not interested in making money with these music. I'm happy to confess any copyright infringement but I would not pay for imaginary damages. Nobody of us have reason to pay for damages as far as we share out of print material. It is nowadays for Yello very easy to fix the situation: set up a commercial mp3 site. The longer they hold it, the less they can demand for damages. It should be our common interest in to get all Yello material available. We have shown our interest, now it is Yello's turn. --*-- What would be the postal address where to I should send my requests for purchase of rarities? I would ask for a pro forma (prepaid bill). We all should send written requests for pro forma as it would clearly proof that we have done all possible for getting legal copies of the products. Best regards, Juhana
