Good Evening Fellow WSLC Members,
We wanted to remind you of the Instillation of Officers Luncheon this Wednesday, March 25 at the Alta Club (100 E South Temple). The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. In addition to the instillation of our new officers, Senator Deidre Henderson (R) and Representative Brian Kind (D) will provide us a "wrap-up" of the 2015 Utah Legislative Session. This should be an excellent opportunity for us to thank the outgoing Board for all of their hard work and welcome the fine women who will be working to make the next two years the best ever.
You have a free self-parking option at the Alta Club lot at 150 E South Temple (north side of South Temple) or valet parking in front of the Alta Club at 100 E South Temple. If you need a wheelchair, or no stairs, entrance you will find it on the south side of the building just off of State Street.
Gay Lynn Bennion, an outgoing Director and the incoming Corresponding Secretary, asked that we send out a notice of an event taking place at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday following our luncheon. It is International Women's Day and the Glendale Library (1375 Concord Street, SLC) will be showing a film telling the story of a very brave young women, Malala Yousafza. Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate. She is known mainly for human rights advocacy for education and for women in her native Swat Valley in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of northwest Pakistan, where the local Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school. Yousafzai's advocacy has since grown into an international movement.
Attached to this email you will also find the minutes from our March 11, 2015 General Session.
And finally... it has been a pleasure to be your Corresponding Secretary these past two years. I shall miss being in close communication with you all. Congratulations to Kari and all of the board for a great two years.
See you next Wednesday,
Jessica Christopher
WSLC Corresponding Secretary
