Forwarded from City of Woodland Hills <chloelonan@gmail.com> Subject: WH Summer fun Switchbacks & Civic Duty Date: Wed, 8 Jun 2022 13:59:55 +0000 Just pretend that last one started with an 'S' View this email in your browser (https://mailchi.mp/3453e106edf8/wh-update-15494105?e=143b5b47cb) Wednesday, June 08, 2022 ** Happy Summer! ------------------------------------------------------------ We are starting our summer hours here at the newsletter committee and will be sending out emails once a month. Hope y'all have a wonderful Summer! ** Did you (or anyone else) clear brush on your property? ------------------------------------------------------------ Help your city receive grant money for next year's chipper! Please log your work by filling out this short online Google Doc form ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) . But I paid someone else to clear my property, can I still log those hours? Yes! And please also include how much money you spent too - on things like equipment, gas, and labor! ** Switchback Trail Mitigation Day - Volunteers Needed! ------------------------------------------------------------ Please see the included flyer advertising the discussed Switchbacks Trail Mitigation Day Scheduled on Saturday, June 11th, 2022. We will also be gathering to place a Memorial Bench on behalf of Jeff Burger to kick off the day. It is anticipated each bar will take around 5-15 minutes and can be completed with shovels, picks, and steel rakes. Please bring any equipment you have and leave them by the public switchback sign access (picture here ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) ) by 7 am an atv will bring them to the top so we don't have to carry them up as we climb the switchback. The water bars will be marked for the group to clean out prior to the event. Any and all help is so appreciated! Questions? Contact Councilperson Janet Lunt via text (801) 592-4817 or email (mailto:janet@woodlandhills-ut.gov) . ** Primary Ballots Incoming ------------------------------------------------------------ Ballots will be arriving in the mail starting Jun 7th and they will need to be returned prior to election day (Jun 28th). The only lands which are public are the roads, the park, and switchback trails. Please be respectful (and remind your kids too!) of other people's private property (and please don't ride ATVs in the park as it costs the city so much money in repairs). ** Chipper Crews are Here! ------------------------------------------------------------ Chipper Days have started! Shout out to the Department of Natural Resources and County Fire who will be helping us chip. * The chipper crew only comes to your house ONCE (after it has passed, don't put more out). * Please slow down around our chipping crew while they work! Our sheriff will be on the watch for speeding or hazardous driving. * Do NOT take your neighbor's chipped piles without their permission. * We will be piling your chips adjacent to where your chipper pile was located. * Please rake out your chips after your chipping has finished or move them to another location (they are a fire hazard). Questions? The WH Fire Department can do an evaluation of your property and answer any questions you may have email the WH Fire Department (mailto:fire@woodlandhills-ut.gov) or contact Craig Northup (Fire Chief) at 801-891-5387. ** May Sheriff's Report ------------------------------------------------------------ From May 1 to May 31, 2022, the Sheriff's Office responded to over 16 calls for service in the city of WH, including: * 15 Extra Patrols * 3 Information * 2 Accident Property Damage * 2 Residential Alarm * Read all ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) . Safety Tips for HomeOwners - Summertime Edition * Keep doors in your home closed and locked (don't forget your garage doors!) * Alert police to any unusual activity in your neighborhood. * Plan for vacation: + Leave inside lights on timers to create the impression that your house is occupied. + Set your alarm system. + Have a lawn service or neighbor mow your lawn. * Be wary of anyone in your neighborhood looking to perform home repair and asking to gain entry into your home. Ask to see identification and call and get verification from their company before allowing them inside. If they are legitimate, they won't mind the wait. ** Utah Lake Summer Fun ------------------------------------------------------------ The Utah Lake Scavenger Hunt returns!! Do you like competitions?
