Forwarded from City of Woodland Hills <chloelonan@gmail.com> Subject: WH Tonight is the Fall Town Hall Y'all Date: Tue, 21 Sep 2021 17:21:51 +0000 The WH Newsletter View this email in your browser ( https://mailchi.mp/d5a69d79dd82/wh-update-6070761?e=143b5b47cb ) Tuesday, September 21, 2021 ** Pumpkins, leaves that fall, and a resident Town Hall. (Happy Fall, y'all!) ------------------------------------------------------------ After this strange year of COVID, we are so happy to be back writing to you all! WH has been bustling and we have some catching up to do. In this issue, we talk about our WH Town Hall TODAY, ask your opinion on the WH Switchback Trail, and announce some upcoming events! ** Tomorrow is our Fall Town Hall, Y'all ------------------------------------------------------------ The Mayor and City Council would like to invite you to an upcoming Town Hall Meeting TODAY Tuesday, Sept 21, 2021, at 7 pm at the WH City Center. The City Center will be open at 6:00 pm to allow citizens to review information provided. ** Should I go to the Town Hall? ------------------------------------------------------------ Yes! Residents have lots of questions - this is a safe, open forum to hear our neighbor's questions / concerns (or voice our own) AND hear the answers! Sometimes I personally feel like I see a lot of questions on the community Facebook page ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) , but as we don't pay our council people to monitor the community page (that could be a full time job in itself, ha!), sometimes I don't see the answers. As a place of answers, our Town Hall is informative, productive, and good! ** You could attend in person... ------------------------------------------------------------ While indoors, please remember to wear masks (social distancing is improbable in our little meeting room). We appreciate your selflessness in protecting our neighbors! ** Or you could watch in your PJs. ------------------------------------------------------------ The meeting will be held both in person and on Zoom. Individuals wishing to participate via Zoom (link) ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... Zoom Meeting https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) (ID: 418 658 6561, passcode: WH2021CC) will be asked to type your questions in the chat box. ** Have a question, comment, or concern? ------------------------------------------------------------ Get it answered at the Town Hall TODAY! Email Jody (mailto:recorder@woodlandhills-ut.gov) (or submit a question in person at the city center from 9am - 3pm) to have your submission read aloud and addressed by council! Please keep your questions to 250 words or less. See you tonight! ** WH Switchback Trail SURVEY! ------------------------------------------------------------ Please fill out our 4-minute survey ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) to help determine what kind of use is allowed on the switchback trail! We need your opinion represented! We have about 25% of household who have responded so far. (There is a question about your address which if you feel uncomfortable about giving this information, you can leave blank.) Survey closes this Friday, Sept. 24th at 5pm. ** WH's Meet the Candidates Night ------------------------------------------------------------ Listen to our very own WH candidates for Mayor and City Council duke it out (professionally and politically correctly) over the hottest city topics, moderated by Senator Curt Bramble ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) on Oct. 5th at 7pm at the community center (or also available via Zoom)! Candidates are as follows: Mayor (one seat): 1. Brent Winder 2. Ben Hillyard 3. Mike Lauritzen City Council (two open seats): 1. Dorel Kynaston 2. Cody Chamberlain 3. Toby Harding 4. Janet Lunt ** Roads & Water Construction Update ------------------------------------------------------------ The original water system was installed almost 50 years ago! We understand the construction has been inconvenient this summer, but our pipes are getting fixed! Hurray! For more information, check out the water line's website ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) to post questions and concerns for the contractors to review! ** Show our First Responders some love! ------------------------------------------------------------ First responders fundraiser: please give ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) generously for our first responders! ** New Transparency Committee Report ------------------------------------------------------------ Published yesterday (9/20/21), the report talks about the Summit Creek gates decision (they voted on 4 to 1 to keep the gates open). In short, the majority of council voted to keep the gates open as both insurance and legal council said it could be life threatening to keep a public road (and one of only a few emergency exits for the city) gated. In case you didn't see it, here is the link to the pdf ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) . ** WH Days a Success ------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for everyone who attended WH Days! We had so much fun getting to know all our neighbors better over the hotdog dinner, breakfast, and events! ** Have you moved to WH recently? ------------------------------------------------------------ Nice to meet you! We would love to get to know you by featuring you and your family in this newsletter! Please reach out to me, Chloe Cleveland, at chloelonan@gmail.com or reply to this email! *Photo of me, Chloe, and my family! ** Spanish Fork Farmer's Market ------------------------------------------------------------ Currently open Saturday 8am - 1pm - now through the end of October! Eat fresh foods and support local farmers!! ** Want to know if WH is in danger? ------------------------------------------------------------ Sign up (https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799...) for text and/or email alerts to be notified about WH severe weather, law enforcement activity, missing persons, and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods.
