Take it to the Springville Green Waste Facility 600 W 700 N. * If you want to keep the chips, please lay a tarp on the ground next to the brush pile. If a tarp is not down, the chips will be spread through the front part of the yard. * This is for mitigation and not to clear your lot. We appreciate your support in this program. It is making a huge difference in our city. Click here ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) for more information. Did you know that our City has a full-time wildland fire crew that responds to and assists with national incidents during the wildland fire season? When this crew is not responding to a national incident, they are helping to mitigate areas in the city that could potentially be at a higher risk for a fire. Many of you may have seen them working last year and at the beginning of this fire season in Snell Canyon. Starting this year, the City would like to make this crew available to residents for mitigation and fuel reduction efforts at a reasonable crew rate when they are not away on a national fire incident. If you are interested in receiving a quote for them to assist you in clearing your property, please reach out to the Fire Chief, Ted Mickelsen at (385) 406-7970. WH Park Trail Resurfaced The city is resurfacing the trail at the park. Please stay off of the wet tar while this work is being completed. Thank you for your patience. ** Getting Ready for Spring? ------------------------------------------------------------ Find out what permits are needed for your Spring projects. Woodland Hills requires home business occupations to be licensed annually. Why does Woodland Hills require a business license? A local business license helps ensure employee and public health, safety, and welfare. A business license gives protections under the law to which a licensed business is entitled, such as a home office tax exemption. It also helps the public know who they are doing business with. This information is vital to an orderly legal system and marketplace. Who doesn't need a city business license? If you have a home-based hobby or occupation with gross revenue of less than $5,000 in any calendar year, no license is required. Also, child vendors such as lemonade stands, pet sitting, newspaper delivery, lawn care, or balloon sales do not require a business license. Questions? Please call the City Recorder or visit the website www.woodlandhills-ut.gov for additional information. Noxious Weed Removal This spring and summer, we are seeing more weeds because of the high snowpack we received this winter. We need your help in removing the noxious weeds, specifically White Top. These are weeds that are non-native and can seriously hurt the environment. In WH they spread quickly, killing the wildflowers and other native foliage. There are several different methods to eliminate these noxious weeds including mechanical removal with shovels and mowers, herbicide use and biological controls. We encourage WH residents to learn more about how to control the weeds to help keep our mountain healthy. For more information, Utah State University Extension has aninformational video ( https://woodlandhills-ut.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2ffdbabb491f2799... ) explaining how to control the White Top. If you have any questions, please call the city offices 801-423-3900 Bats in Utah Utah, including Woodland Hills, is home to several species of bats, and other species migrate through our area, so it is not unusual to find bats hanging upside down from homes, buildings, or trees. Healthy bats generally avoid people and pose no threat to humans. There have been recent reports of rabid bats along the Wasatch Front. Rabid bats may behave unusually, such as entering areas they would usually avoid or spending time on the ground. They may also be weak, dehydrated or unable to fly, making them more approachable than usual. If you find a bat on the ground or another unusual place, health officials say to do the following: * Do not touch it. * Keep children and pets away. * Report the bat's location to your local animal control agency. In addition, call the county health department at 801-851-3000 to be evaluated for receiving the rabies vaccine if you've had contact with a bat, or if a bat has been inside the living area of your home. ** ------------------------------------------------------------ ** Community and Neighborhood Events -- Not Sponsored by or Affiliated with the City of WH ------------------------------------------------------------ * Woodland Hills Tour of Artist Studios June 8, 9, 10 from 6 - 9 pm at various artists homes.
