FYI, Star party for tomorrow night cancelled due to weather
We'll likely reschedule a night next month. I'll keep you posted. /Rich ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Jeremy Brunner <jbrunner@alpinedistrict.org> To: Richard Tenney <retenney@yahoo.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 11, 2014 8:42 PM Subject: Re: Star Party Request RIchard, With an 80% chance of rain in the forecast, we're going to cancel for this Thursday. I spoke with a Mr. Wallace, who apparently is in the Astronomy club, and he said that he would like to work with me to schedule an astronomy night for a different day in March. I'm going to let all my parents and students know not to plan on coming on Thursday. Will you please let your astronomy helpers know? Thank you. Jeremy Brunner Principal Cedar Ridge Elementary

Last night I checked behind the school. With the flood lights off it should be reasonably dark. [When I moved out to Cedar Hills in 1993 one could see the milky way] I was thinking of making some big "flash cards" of constellations based on the H L Reye book "Seeing the stars a new way" Can hold them up, rotate them etc. They are studying planets right now. Is there any easy way to make an angle measuring device out of a protractor? Mr Brunner the Principal has a computer guided telescope and is interested in astronomy. If we get a turnout of 40+ we would be very busy. What do you think of also inviting a few students from BYU Astronomy Club? They have some scopes and some of them are going into teaching. Just a few ideas. Gary Wallace 801 367-5066 [texting available] . On Thu, Feb 13, 2014 at 4:25 AM, Lynn Cooley <lycolie4@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi I have been doing a little bit of Astronomy here and there. I am presently building an observatory on the back side of my house here in Orem. I should have bought a telescope 20 or so years ago. When they were a lot cheaper. I am in the market for a Mead 16" LX 850 Telescope. Or something close to that. I may have to go with a Mead 10" or a 12" you know what ever I can afford. I am interested in star parties I also have available the "Astronomy Infinite Cosmos DVD series" about 30 of them. If you are interested. My background is in Electrical Eng. I will see you soon Lynn Cooley On Fri, Feb 14, 2014 at 8:44 PM, G Wall <deltameta5@gmail.com> wrote:
