I tried this onec and didn't see it appear. I hope you all don't get this twice. Thursday night The tea leaves say (from Dugway MET) there will be hi cirrus with the wind dieing down in the evening in Northern Utah Friday night We wetted a sheeps nose (with a Chem. Wipe) and spun it on an Ouija board and it came up - The only clear spot in the state will be Blanding (South East Utah). The models (mostly blonds) are showing St. George cloudy Friday as well; with Blanding only clear until mid-night. There will be strong south westerly winds ahead of the front. Saturday night The Tarots says the whole state is washed out Saturday night. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - File online by April 15th
Has it been really quiet on here lately or what? Haven't heard anything since the 16th. Was it because we were out of town and weren't here to yak on the board so much? Maybe I've just missed something... Moon Watch is still on for Saturday the 24th isn't it Jim? It looks fairly okay for weather conditions and the moon that night.

I think the long week of clouds had something to do with it. Too many things going on for me on Saturday, but I have the Moon Watch penciled in. If I can make it, I'll be there. --- John and Lisa Zeigler <john@johnstelescopes.com> wrote:

John, Lisa and group Yes, we plan on having a repeat of the first workshop we held a few weeks ago. We will start at 7:00 PM at Fort Provo just like last time. This time we ask that everybody to bring lawn chairs because we cannot guarantee we will get the pavilion. The regular season for the park is from 1 May on for making reservations. I will bring a couple of folding tables in case we end up on the lawn. The weather looks like it will be good and I will set up my Binoculars on a parallelogram so people will know where to assemble at the park. John, I still need to know if you will be available Saturday May 1st for our eyepiece workshop. If so, then I will see what it costs to reserve the pavilion at Fort Provo. I would like to get on a full moon schedule even though viewing the moon is not best at full moon. Anybody can offer there opinion or make a suggestion but my basic assumption is that most folks will want to be out star gazing when there is not much of a moon problem and the best time for us to get a workshop together is close to when the moon if full. Everyone, I am thinking about combining the redo of the collimation class and the eyepiece class to the same night on May 1st in order to not compete with SLAS. Especially considering that night is National Astronomy day and they have a very big to do at SPOC. http://www.slas.ws you can see what they have planned for that night. Would everyone be all right with doing our Moon Watch on May 1st and doing all the workshops that night instead of over two weekends? That would be a lot easier for us. Thanks! You mean no workshop on the 24th but just the one on May 1st? I think that will work better with my schedule. Since you will be doing the eyepiece workshop, do you want me to bring my Carl Zeiss eyepiece? (I improved the "mount" from masking tape to PVC pipe). --- John and Lisa Zeigler <john@johnstelescopes.com> wrote:

I'm sorry I wasnt more clear. Yes, we would cancel the Moon Watch party this weekend on the 24th, and have all workshops on collimation and eye pieces and the moon on May 1st when there are no other "big" parties planned and everyone has more time to plan for it. From the feed back I have gotten today, it doesnt look like we would have a great turn out this weekend anyway. Let me know what all of you would prefer to do. David, Yes, Please bring the Carl Zeiss eyepiece. In fact if anyone has very high end eyepieces and some very bad "came with your WalMart special" eyepieces, please bring them, and we will do comparisons to see the real differences between them. Thursday: The current weather system will take most of the night to clear out. Tonight does not look very good for observing. Friday: There is a hi-pressure approaching from the Northwest. By Friday night the winds will have died down and the only place in the state left cloudy will be the Southeast corner of Utah. Saturday: Right on the heels of the hi-pressure system is another system that will cause a trough to pass over Utah on Saturday during the day bringing cloudiness with it. . It will be clearing by evening except in Northeastern Utah. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Photos: High-quality 4x6 digital prints for 25¢
