Hi all, Four of us braved the cold Tuesday until frost crashed the party just after midnight. Transparency was so-so, the ground was perfectly dry, but the cold air brought very steady seeing, and the views of Jupiter's colorful festoons at 423x in the 16-inch (using my "new" $10 swap meet 6mm Celestron Ortho (thanks Patrick!)) were superb. For me it was also a very productive night; I logged 34 more Herschel-400 objects, all galaxies (most of them in Leo Minor, Ursa Major and vicinity) save NGC 4361, a PNe in Corvus (central star was easy). Highlights were NGC 3294, 3432, 3813, 3877, 3675, 3726, 3198, 3184, and 3556 (aka M108). 7 of the log sketches show pairs of galaxies, not uncommon in this part of the sky. The ground was nice and dry by the way, for any who might be wondering. Thanks Tyler, Daniel and Robert for the great company! -Rich PS, expect more lovely images from Tyler to be posted in the next day or so... __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
